Social worker and developer · Sandnes, Norway

I see the needs from the inside, and build the tools that are missing.

By day I am a job consultant and professional lead in the AFT team (a work preparation programme) at Sandnes Pro-Service. I have had an interest in and a knack for computers since I was young, and taught myself to program early on. Today I build tools for the work I do myself: from a browser extension my colleagues use every day to a platform of my own for participant follow-up, with operations and privacy built in.

Where practice meets code

What I learned in social work shapes how I build. Four professional principles that became technical decisions.

  1. 01 · Principle

    User participation

    In the code

The participant approves the report to NAV before it is sent, and can suggest changes to their own plan.

    Stillas
  2. 02 · Principle

    From problem to resource

    In the code

The plan builds on what the person can and wants to do, and the direction is written in their own words.

    Stillas
  3. 03 · Principle

    Privacy as care

    In the code

Automatic anonymisation, an audit log, and a separate participant app that never ships admin code.

    Stillas
  4. 04 · Principle

    Meet people where they are

    In the code

The tools live in a side panel next to the system colleagues already use, not in yet another program.

Browser extension for the case management system

A Chrome extension that fills gaps in the system we use to follow up participants – documents that look right on paper, tasks that don't slip, and results reports we can check.

2025–In use

For the service

  • Used daily by the AFT team and a few more, around 14 people
  • Around 40 colleagues make their documents with the print view
  • Makes the AFT results reporting possible, with numbers that can be checked
  • First version in a month, alongside my job as a job consultant

Under the hood

  • Real-time pagination with headers and footers, first home-made, later Paged.js
  • Typed messages between side panel, background and content scripts
  • Signed releases, 50+ versions, with automatic updates
  • Own extension store on Netlify, rolled out to every PC through Intune

TypeScript · React · WXT · Vite · Tailwind CSS

Stillas

A platform for following up participants in work preparation programmes (AFT) – a counsellor app, a separate participant app, and operations with security and privacy built in.

2026–Active

For the service

  • The plan as direction, stages and next steps, in the participant's own words
  • Participants have their plan on their phone between meetings
  • The reports to NAV are built straight from the plan

Under the hood

  • Monorepo with two apps, a Fastify API and PostgreSQL
  • Signed images, deploy by digest, separate monitoring
  • Risk assessment using the Data Protection Authority and NSM methods

TypeScript · React · Vite · TanStack Router · Tailwind CSS

Migrating to a new case management system

Changing systems for around 150 employees and 60 AFT participants. I extracted, cleaned and moved what the vendor's conversion missed, and converted every document template.

2025Completed

For the service

  • Work placements, weekly schedules, next of kin and absence came across, not just the basic information
  • Next of kin were separate contact records in the old system, but two free-text fields in the new one. The script turned them into readable text, even when there were more than two
  • I knew the data and the work, and knew what had to come along

Under the hood

  • Targeted exports from the old system
  • Cleaning and reshaping in Python and pandas, imported as curated CSV files
  • Batch updates in the browser for what CSV could not cover, with my own login, the app's own CSRF protection and a backup before every change
  • Scripted conversion of every document template from docx to HTML

Python · pandas · CSV · JavaScript · Fetch API

In my spare time

Spare-time projects driven by curiosity: cryptography, home automation, AI infrastructure and interactive UI.

2026–Active

e2ee-drop

A self-hosted service for end-to-end encrypted file transfer, rewritten from scratch after a serverless prototype – with accounts, key recovery and permanent links.

TypeScript · React · Vite · Tailwind CSS

2026–In use

tiny-metamcp

A self-hosted MCP aggregator giving AI assistants one signed-in endpoint to my own tools, with OAuth 2.1/PKCE and per-user access control. Plus reusable MCP servers.

Python · FastAPI · MCP SDK · SQLite

2025–Active

homely

A home-automation hobby turned into a tidy open-source integration – a Home Assistant custom component for the Homely alarm with push updates and a fallback, plus unofficial API documentation.

Python · Home Assistant · Socket.IO · pydantic

2026–Prototype

wheel-planner

An interactive årshjul (annual wheel) planner – activities and milestones are dragged and resized directly on a radial timeline. React, SVG, a pure geometry module and a small Express/SQLite API.

React 19 · TypeScript · Vite · Zustand

What I bring

Technical breadth, and experience with what happens around the code: understanding needs, working across disciplines and explaining things so people understand.

Technical

Human

  • User insight from the inside

I work in the service myself, and see the needs before they become requirements in a specification.

  • Working across disciplines

Years of experience with guidance, assessment and collaboration between participants, employers, NAV and professionals. I listen to every side and find solutions people can rally around.

  • Explaining to non-technical people

I know what ordinary users find hard, and design and explain things accordingly.

  • Professional lead, requirements and vendors

Professional lead in the AFT team, and often brought in when the organisation chooses new systems and vendors. I help ask the right questions and set the right requirements before the decision is made.
